Narrow escape for PIA plane

PASSENGERS on a PIA airliner flying from Kabul to Islamabad had a narrow escape on Thursday when it made an emergency landing in Lahore after its windscreen was damaged in bad weather. The incident occurred just a day after an Airblue plane cra-shed in hills outside Islam-abad in heavy rain and poor vi-sib-ility, killing all 152 passenge-rs and crew on board. There were 107 passengers on the PIA flight PK-252 from Kabul to Islamabad. Yasmin Haroon, spokesperson for the staterun PIA, said a panel of the Boeing 737s windscreen was shattered during the flight. The control tow-er asked the pilot to divert the flight to Lahore as the weather in Islamabad was rough. The plane landed at Lahore airpor-t at 6.10 pm, Yasmin Haroon tld Press Trust of India (PTI). The passengers, including some foreigners, had been put up at a hotel and would leave f-or Islamabad Friday (today), she said.
