Pak players advance in World Jr Squash in Ecuador

KARACHI (PPI) Pakistani youngsters Waqas Mehboob, Farhan Zaman, Danish Atlas Khan and Nasir Iqbal confirmed their entry in the World Junior Squash Championship third round after winning their respective matches in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Waqas Mehboob found Australian Jack Molloy an easy opponent in the second round and recorded a straight games 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 triumph to confirm his presence in the third round of the event. Farhan Zaman dispatched New Zealander Michael Sunderland and registered a formidable 11-6, 11-3, 11-2 win. The 5th seed Danish Atlas Khan, who is the brother of Pakistan top squash player Aamir Atlas, thrashed his second round opponent JaeJin Yoo of Korea by 11-5, 11-3, 11-4 score to secure his expected place in the third round of the event. Nasir Iqbal followed his three compatriots in the last-32 stage after sending Canadian Tyler Osborne packing for home. Nasir also recorded a straight-set 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 victory. Meanwhile, Egypt dominated the proceedings with six players through to the last 32. India as their neighbour Pakistan, also has four of its colts in the third round.
