Man held for allegedly killing wife 

Gujrat   -  A man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife when she tried to refrain him from quarrelling with son, sources said on Thursday.

The incident took place in Chak Bakhtawar in the limits of Police Station (PS) Galyana, they said.

The suspected killer identified as Safdar Hussain was arrested from Lahore during a raid by Galyana police in collaboration with local police, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Sajid Kiyani said.

According to the sources, Danyal Ahsan, a resident of Chak Bakhtawar, lodged a complaint with PS Galyana stating he along with his mother Shamshad Fatima was sitting in a room on 27/7/2021 and his father Safdar Hussain was in the courtyard of the house. He said as his brother Ahtesham Ahsan entered the house, his father started fighting with him. His mother moved forward to rescue the son, but Safdar Hussain hit her in the head causing fatal injury. He said he rushed his injured mother to hospital but she could not survive.

The police have registered a case under section 302 of PPC and began investigation.

Talking to The Nation, DIG Operations Sajid Kiyani confirmed that Galyana police in collaboration with Lahore police raided a house and arrested Safdar Hussain. He said police moved the suspected killer to Gujrat for further investigation.

The suspected killer will be produced before a court of law today (Friday) to obtain his physical remand for further investigation.
