Umar Khan wins CAS’ Veterans Golf

LAHORE - Wing Commander (R) Umar Khan won the veterans’ category of the CAS Veterans Golf Championship 2014 held here at the Lahore Garrison Golf & Country Club. Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and awarded trophies and prizes to the winners.
In the veterans’ category, Wing Commander (R) Umar Khan, Wg Cdr (R) Javed and Air Commodore (R) Mujtaba Jamal won the first, second and third net prizes, while the prizes for first, second and third gross went to Wg Cdr (R) Abdul Naffay, Wg Cdr (R) Parvez Saeed Mir and Air Vice Marshal (R) Shahid Nisar respectively. The longest drive was hit by Air Commodore (R) Pervez Sadiq and closest to pin by Air Commodore (R) Sajjad.
In the seniors’ category, Air Marshal Athar Bokhari, Air Vice Marshal Ashfaq Arain and Air Marshal Jamshed Khan took away the first, second and third net prizes respectively, while first, second and third gross were picked up by Air Marshal Asim Suleiman, Air Vice Marshal Asad Lodhi and Air Vice Marshal M Salman. The prize for the longest drive was won by Air Marshal Asim Suleiman and nearest to pin was won by Air Vice Marshal Asad Lodhi.
In the amateur/guest category, Major Gen (R) Zia Ullah Khan, Wg Cdr Basit and Air Commodore Nadeem Sherwani picked up the first, second and third net prizes while first, second and third gross were taken away by Chaudhry M Aslam, Major (R) Nisar A Khan and Squadron Leader Faisal Altaf respectively. The prize for the longest drive was won by Brig Riaz Kasi and nearest to pin by Saqlain Abbas.
CAS Veterans Golf Championship is an annual fixture, which aims at offering an opportunity to the serving PAF golfers in interacting with their veteran counterparts and promoting healthy sports activity.
