Nawaz not a candidate for premiership, says Hashmi

KARACHI - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior vice president, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, on Friday said that PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif was not the candidate of premiership. PML-N neither wants the midterm election in the country nor to destabilise the present government. Talking to the newsmen upon his arrival at Jinnah International Airport Karachi, he said that PML-N wants the PPPs government to establish the supremacy of law and constitution in the country. He warned that if the PPP government continued to follow the policies of Musharraf government than this would be difficult for PML-N to continue its lasting cooperation with the current PPP government. Referring to the matter of IDPs, he said that this was the result of the wrong strategy of the government. Due to which, more than 2.5 million people of Swat and Malakand Agency suffered. Hashmi said that the issues and problems would never be resolved, if they did not chalk out the proper strategy to resolve the issues. Government and Taliban, both are responsible for the displacement of more than 2.5 million people of Swat and Malakand Agency, he added. PML-N is against the extremists and terrorist elements. We are supporting the government to eliminate the terrorists from the region, he maintained. He demanded immediate end of drone attacks in the country. This is the responsibility of every government to protect their people and land from the invasion of foreign countries. Hashmi said that governments helplessness towards drone attacks was not the solution of their continuous invasion in the country.
