SWABI - The 16th convocation of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology would be held on June 12, said Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Pro-Rector (academic) while presiding over the convocation committee meeting here on Tuesday.

He said that the first batch had crossed the portal of the institute in 1993 and it was graduated in 1997. Former President of Pakistan, Mr Ghulam Ishaq Khan founded the institute which has played a leading role in the realm of higher education for the last 19-year.

The Institute has, so for, produced 2657 BS, 210 MS, and 35 PhD students. “They (students) completed their studies in different disciplines of engineering education,” he said.

Answering a question he said that the GIK Institute graduates enjoy a distinguished position in the job market and both national and multinational companies preferred them. “Degrees would be conferred on the successful BS, MS and PhD candidates in the 16th convocation and the arrangements to holding the convocation in a befitting manner are in the final stage,” he said. “About 250 BS, 20 MS and five PhD students are expected to be awarded degrees in the convocation,” he said. The convocation, he said would also be attended by various prominent officials of different departments, educationists and parents of the students.
