ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Peoples Party has suspended the basic party membership of Political Secretary of partys life Chairperson Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Naheed Khan, once considered as one of the most powerful lady in the party. Refusing to give reply to the show-cause notice served on her Ms Naheed Khan said that her basic membership card was having the signatures of Shaheed Ms Benazir Bhutto and if they (party leadership) have no regard for her then they should go forward with their plan. She also denied breaching party discipline and charged that party is being run against the vision of Benazir Bhutto and the party which the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had left on the day she was martyred is nowhere on the political horizon of the country. The decision of suspension of Naheed Khans basic membership was taken in the meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party Rawalpindi Chapter held under the chair of District president of the party Aamir Fida Piracha. In the meeting the general demeanour of Naheed Khan came under review specifically her recent speeches wherein she had not only criticised the party policies but the very person of the Co-Chairman of the party President Asif Ali Zardari for taking unilateral decisions and running the party affairs contrary to the vision and ideology of Shaheed Ms Benazir Bhutto. Talking to media persons after the meeting PPP District Rawalpindi President Aamir Fida Piracha said that Naheed Khan was criticising the party leadership in her speeches and was giving statements against the party and its central leadership in media in complete violation of the party discipline. Keeping in view her persistent criticism on the party leadership the party had decided to suspend her basic membership and they would be serving her with show-cause notice to seek her explanation on the charges levelled against her. On the other hand Ms Naheed Khan said that she had not violated party discipline and just spoke the truth and her criticism on party working was aimed at correcting its path. She said that her basic membership card was carrying the signatures of Benazir Bhutto, and if the party leaders have no respect and regard for Shaheed Ms Bhutto then they could do whatever they wanted. She further said that she was not demanding any slot in the party and just wanted to see the party function as per the vision and ideology of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. If the party has suspended her membership because she had demanded to see the party function in the light of the vision and ideology of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto then the party has to suspend and cancel the membership of thousands of party activists who also wanted the same.
