ISLAMABAD - In a major breakthrough, the Scrutiny Committee in foreign funding case against ruling party of the county after almost three years, on Monday submitted report to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). According to sources privy to development, the ECP committee formed in 2018, after over 80 meetings has finalised report of the foreign funding case against PTI. The committee in its report presented recommendations to ECP after a lengthy period. The sources revealed that top election body will open the recommendations to both the parties during the hearing. It must be noted that back in September 2020, ECP had trashed report of Scrutiny Committee in foreign funding case against PTI. The ECP in an order said the report was neither complete nor well detailed. ECP had noted that Scrutiny Committee on the basis of documents provided by both the parties and collected from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had neither scrutinised the record nor evaluated the evidence from the documents and failed to form definite opinion.
