khyber   -  An awareness session was held to sensitize the affects of fatal disease measles and rubella (German measles) here in tehsil compound, sub-division Landi Kotal on Friday.

The activity, organised by the health department was attended by the assistant commissioner (AC), Landi Kotal, additional district health officer (ADHO), government officials and scores of religious scholars, traders, and teachers.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADHO   shed light on every aspect of the disease and informed the participants how the disease affects children. He said that a vaccination campaign to be launched from 15th of November 2021 till November 27, 2021 is the only remedy to get rid of measles and rubella. He said, a vaccination target of 495000 children has been set and the vaccination teams will visit educational institutions, government buildings, hujras, and madrassas. He maintained that anti-measles, rubella vaccine has been included in routine immunization programme that will be administered to every child, ageing from nine month to 15 years.

Earlier, the assistant commissioner Landi Kotal   urged the participants to play their due role and persuade parents to vaccinate their children against the deadly disease.
