WASHINGTON   -  Chief of Army chief (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will pay an offi­cial visit to United States in the first week of next month to meet senior defence officials and national securi­ty officials. 

Credible sources in US capital told The Nation that army chief would hold important meetings at Pentagon. 

The purpose of the visit is to discuss defense and security issues concern­ing both the countries. 

Army chief will also discuss latest security situation in the region in­cluding Afghanistan. He will also take US officials into confidence on situa­tion in IIOJK and continuous threaten­ing statements by Indian leadership against Pakistan. Army chief will also speak at prestigious US think tanks highlighting Pakistan security needs in the context of emerging terrorism threats from Afghanistan.
