HR activists hold demo to seek missing persons’ recovery

PESHAWAR - Demanding immediate recovery of the missing persons, dozens of Human Rights activists Thursday staged a protest demonstration here at main Sher Shah Suri Road outside press club.
The protestors including human rights activists, members of civil society and political parties gathered under banner of Pakistan Human Rights Commission and demanded recovery of missing persons.
The protestors were holding placards and banners calling for immediate release of missing persons, and chanted full-throated slogans in favour of the missing persons and against the low progress of their safe and early recovery.
The participants while talking to media persons have expressed grave concern over the rising number cases of missing persons and slow pace of their safe and early recovery. They viewed the issue has become complex with a rising number of cases in the country, saying that situation was getting worst regarding this sensitive issue in Pakistan as a large number of people had been missed for the last a decade.
The activists referred to a report in which they disclosed that a number of people were missing and arrested for a long period without any allegations. Despite the judgments of superior judiciary about missing persons, they said that state and relevant organisations had become silent to take any prompt action for safe and early recovery of the arrested people. “The most alarming aspect is that people were still being kidnapped in the country in absence of any tangible steps by government and other relevant agencies,” they maintained.
The participants demanded of the government to take practical steps for immediate recovery of missing persons.
