Police killing: Faisalabad temperature rises with violence

The city is once again witnessing violence but this time over killing of a youth at the hand of police.
According to details, Sargodha police, in their overnight raid at the house of Nasr Awan’s house, opened fire at his son Sabir Awan who put up resistance in the arrest of his father. Police wanted to arrest him under charge of theft of cattle; however, Nasr along with his servant was injured; both of the injured have been shifted to a local hospital. The local police was mum over the incident.
The residents of city area of Awakat took to street against the killing of Sabir, 30 turning Jaranwala Road into a virtual battlefield. Enraged demonstrators set ablaze the police check post as well.
Police resorted to aerial firing to break up the violent protesters, who blocked the traffic at Jaranwala Road by setting tires on fire. The demonstrators also wielded batons after they were pushed back by the police.
