LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued a restraining order against terminations of contract employees of Punjab Live Stocks Department from their services. Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan also sought reply from the department’s secretary on the petitions moved by employees challenging their removals.
Earlier, the petitioners through their counsel told the court that they were appointed on contract basis in the Live Stock Department, while the department had started terminating them from their services before ending of their contract period.
The lawyers maintained that the petitioners’ case should be forwarded to the Public Services Commission for regularising their services or terminating them instead of the removal by the department. The court also directed the respondents to submit reply within two weeks. –STAFF REPORTER
