RCB imposes Rs125,000 fine on food outlets

rawalpindi - The food branch of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board on Tuesday imposed fines amounting to Rs125,000 on food outlets for unhygienic food and poor cleanliness conditions.

According to RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, the food branch team conducted surprise raids in different areas and imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on Punjab Cash and Carry, Range Road, Rs30,000 on Subnam Catering, Allahabad, Rs30,000 on Ashraf Dairy, Rs5,000 on Ashaq Hotel, Rs5,000 on Gulab Cafe and Rs5,000 on Haji Hotel for selling unhygienic food items and poor cleanliness condition.

The team also collected 30 food samples which were sent to the lab for tests while 10 food outlets were also issued tickets for various violations.

The spokesman said that the teams also visited a number of food outlets and issued notices on poor cleanliness, besides ordering them to maintain standard else strict action would be taken against the violators.
