LAHORE - Sheikhupura police, acting upon the notices and instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, have arrested the accused who had murdered a seven-year-old girl in Sharaqpur. Giving details about the police operation, Sheikhupura Regional Police Officer (RPO) Mirza Faran Baig said that as soon as the tragic incident was reported, Sheikhupura DPO Ahsan Saifullah immediately registered a case and formed teams for arrest of the murderer. According to the RPO, police used geo-fencing and forensic teams to investigate the case. He added that the murder accused identified as Ghulam Nabi alias Mithu was a close relative and neighbour of the slain girl. “He had strangled the girl after a failed attempt to rape her,” the RPO stated. He further said that the IGP had adopted a zero tolerance policy in crimes against women and children. “Therefore, the murder accused will be punished severely according to law,” he added.
