Manzoor Wattoo, Mian Iftikhar Hussain discuss PPP-ANP cooperation in LB elections in Punjab

LAHORE: Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Secretary General, Awami National Party (ANP) and Manzoor Ahmed Khan, ANP President Punjab called on Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP, Punjab, today and discussed the political situation in the country along with exploring the possibility of co-operation during the forthcoming local bodies’ elections in the province of Punjab.

The ANP leader expressed the desire of his party leadership to seek co-operation of the PPP because both parties’ ideological basis was the closest as far as the country’s politics was concerned. Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo earlier welcomed the ANP delegation at the PPP Punjab Secretariat and stated during the meeting that both the Parties were the natural allies who had struggled for the restoration of democracy and its continuity.

He further said that the ANP always extended its hand of co-operation whenever previous PPP governments sought its help to resolve the most critical political and constitutional issues.

“The help made a qualitative difference to meet the challenges facing the country,”  he added. He said that there was a dire need of the country’s politics that democratic, liberal and progressive political forces should gel to-gather and play a role of an effective opposition.
