Struggle by lawyers close to victory: Iftikhar

Hyderabad (PPI) - The deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that lawyers' struggle has reached its final phase and its fruits were to reach common man. He praised the struggle of lawyers of whole country and lauded sacrifices of lawyers of Sindh. The lawyers' movement, which started 14 months back, has reached close to victory. The movement has no other aim but rule of law and supremacy of constitution. He was addressing to the lawyers of Sindh at Justice Chaudhry Hall in civil court here via telephone on Friday. He said, "We want such society where justice was supreme and quoted Hazrat Ali (AS) who had said, "We can live with Kufar (infidels) but cannot live without justice." Chaudhry Iftikhar said that it was not necessary that justice can be dispensed only by Supreme Court or High Court but it can be given by administration as well as lower courts. He said, "We should create such atmosphere in which people feel that the society, they were living in, shall not have to pay price for getting justice." He lauded efforts of lawyers and judges who were trying to provide justice to people and for that purpose they have started movement since last 14 months. Now the fruits of this movement have started to reach to people, he added. He said 160 million people back the struggle of lawyers. He thanked lawyers of Hyderabad and other districts of Sindh who had assembled to hear him. He said that the lawyers had offered sacrifices for supremacy of justice. He saluted lawyers of Sindh adding that the creator of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah was also lawyer who had established foundation of country on rule of law. He said lawyers are against the rule of one man but they want such country where our next generations feel freedom and access to justice. He hoped that lawyers struggle would culminate in making country more strong and successful. He praised unity of lawyers adding that never before in history of Pakistan had lawyers showed such unity. Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said, "We cannot compromise justice as man cannot live without getting justice." Kazi Abdul Sattar president High Court Bar Hyderabad, Chaudhry Bashir Gujjar president Hyderabad district Bar, Salahuddin Pahanwar president Mirpurkhas district bar, Anwer Mahmood from Sanghar, Ali Muhammad Daheri Nawabshah, Mukhtar Junejo of Malir bar, Mahmoodul Hassan president Karachi Bar, Imam Bux Baloch Tando Adam, Anwer Nizamani and Naheed Afzal from Karachi also addressed the gathering.
