Secretary orders crackdown on poor motorway rest area services

ISLAMABAD  -  Secretary Communications Ali Sher Mehsud on Monday ordered an immediate crackdown on substandard facilities at motorway rest areas across Pakistan, directing authorities to ensure clean, affordable, and quality services for travellers in line with ministerial directives.

While chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad, Ali Sher Mehsud said inflated food prices, unsanitary conditions, and substandard products would no longer be tolerated. He said providing a comfortable and hygienic experience for travellers remains a top priority.

“Strict action must be taken against vendors overcharging customers or violating sanitation protocols,” he said.

He urged passengers to report incidents of overpricing or unsanitary facilities, assuring that complaints would be addressed promptly. Senior officials from the NHA, Motorway Police, and relevant departments were present during the session.
