Keeping her family tradition of serving the masses, Maryam Nawaz, as Chief Minister of Punjab, is striving to provide maximum relief to the people of her province, and her efforts have begun to bear fruit. Yet, there remain certain groups or mafias within society who, without any checks or balances, are determined to place hurdles in the way of the country’s progress and prosperity.
Here, I wish to highlight the poultry mafia, which is brazenly manipulating the prices of chicken and eggs—particularly eggs, which are now being sold at the unprecedented rate of Rs 300 per dozen (Rs 25 per egg). This is grossly unfair, especially when there is ample supply in the market and no shortage has been reported. If this condition persists, one can easily anticipate the dire consequences in the coming winter. The white-collar segment of society would be completely deprived of this nutritious and protein-rich yet affordable source of food.
It is therefore humbly requested that those responsible for this unjust price hike be held accountable, in order to provide much-needed relief to the poor and middle classes.
