Reviving Night Cricket

In many Pakistani cities, young people spend evenings scrolling on their phones or wandering the streets. This lack of healthy engagement wastes energy and can push them towards risky activities. One community-driven solution could make a difference — reviving night cricket.

In the past, night cricket brought neighbourhoods together, offering safe spaces for youth to play and bond. It also reduced idle gatherings that sometimes led to disputes or petty crimes. With proper lighting, basic security, and local sponsorships, it can once again be a positive outlet for our young generation.

Cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi have many empty grounds that could be transformed into lively night cricket venues. Even small matches in parks can create unity and healthy competition. Local authorities, sports boards, and community groups should join forces to make this happen.

Sports unite, inspire, and protect communities. Let’s bring back night cricket — not just as a game, but as an investment in safer, happier, and healthier cities.
