rawalpindi - A famous bakery was sealed for supplying unhygienic products while a sweet shop was fined over poor cleanliness conditions here at Saddar area on Monday.
According to sources, the food control department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board under the supervision of Deputy Cantonment Executive Officer Rana Abdul Wahab and Assistant Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya conducted a raid at Bread and Butters Bakery in Saddar.
During inspection, the team found that the kitchen of the bakery was very dirty while the bakery products were also found unhygienic and substandard, sources added. Taking action, the authorities sealed the bakery.
Similarly, the team also inspected a sweet shop namely “Honey Sajid Sweet” and found cleanliness condition unsatisfactory there. The team imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the owner and directed him to ensure cleanliness in his shop in future or else it would be sealed.
Later, Rana Abdul Wahab talking to media persons said that the food control department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board would check more food outlets and bakeries in coming days. He warned the hotel and bakery owners to keep their kitchens clean and avoid cooking/baking substandard food items; otherwise, strict action would be taken against them.
