EBM promotes ‘innovative leadership’ at MAP event
LAHORE (PR): Pakistan’s leading biscuit manufacturing company, English Biscuit Manufacturers (Pvt.) Limited (EBM), collaborated with the Management Association of Pakistan (MAP) for its17th Convention, a 2-day event that commenced Wednesday in Karachi.
EBM’s role as a platinum partner of this flagship event aimed at bringing together national and international management experts on one platform.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Dr. Zeelaf Munir also participated in the event as a speaker as well as a panelist in one of the sessions.

Abacus conducts industry TRS post survey meeting
KARACHI (PR): Abacus Consulting, in collaboration with Mercer, organised the TRS-2015 post survey meeting, as the 11th annual All Industry Total Remuneration Survey (TRS) is published in Pakistan. The survey report includes 150 participating companies and data for more than 59,000 incumbents across various industries. The event was held on Wednesday at a local hotel here.
The event was a post survey meeting to present findings of the TRS 2015, and was attended by delegates from various client organizations. With the TRS findings, companies would be able to calibrate their own rewards not only to increase retention but to attract the best talent. Companies will also be able to get local and global benchmarks in more than 120 different markets and receive all industry or industry specific results.
Fatima Asad-Said, Executive Director Human Capital Excellence at Abacus Consulting, said, “The key is to define and effectively communicate a winning Employer Value Proposition (EVP). This impacts the development of aligned total reward programs. The survey presents a comprehensive remuneration analysis on more than 700 unique positions, which allow clients to customize their remuneration benchmarking based on a select group of companies. SGS to host coal conference

‘Foreigners interested in real estate sector’
LAHORE (PR): Foreigners have shown a massive interest in Pakistan’s real estate sector in 2015, according to new data released by Pakistan’s best real estate website, Lamudi.pk.
The number of foreign visitors on Lamudi’s portal increased by more than 27 percent between 2014 and 2015. Furthermore, the number of visitors who used the platform to conduct real estate transactions has also increased by more than 40 percent over the last 12 months. This figure alone is a clear indication of growing foreign interest.
Lamudi.pk has been visited from a total of 170 countries in the past year. The top five countries that visited the site were Saudi Arabia, USA, UAE, UK and Canada. Not surprisingly, the top city searched on the site was Karachi, followed by perennial front-runner, Lahore. Other cities popular with foreigners were Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Murree.

First session of PPL-NED internship concludes
KARACHI (PR): The first session of the one-year Extended Internship Programme (EIP) organized by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi (NED), under a pioneering academia-industry partnership, came to a close with certificate distribution for more than 60 internees at the Department of Petroleum Engineering (DPE), NED on November 10. The event was attended by senior officials from the Exploration and Production(E&P) industry, faculty members and programme participants.
MD and CEO PPL and chief guest Syed Wamiq Bokhari reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continue with capacity building initiatives for youth residing around its operational areas in order to provide professional human resource for the E&P industry.
Guest of honour and Vice Chancellor NED Professor Muhammad Afzal Haque appreciated PPL for working with academic institutions to deliver quality education and on-job training. Dean, Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture Professor Suresh Hashmat Lodhi and Chairman DPE Professor Abid Murtaza Khan, who also spoke at the occasion, shared similar sentiments.Later, Bokhari and DMD (AO) PPL Syed Kaleem Akhtar distributed certificates among EIP participants.

ABAD northern region polls

LAHORE (PR): The elections of Association of Builders & Developers Pakistan (Northern Region) for year 2015-16 were held recently. The Executive Committee members of Builders & Developers of Pakistan unanimously elected Mohammad Hammad Arshad as chairman, Sheeraz J Monnoo as vice chairman, and Sheharyar Imtiaz Rafi as vice chairman (co-opted).
Gohar Ejaz, Brig (r) Khalid Bashir Khawaja, Ayub Sabir Izhar, Sheraz J Monnoo and Asif Kamal were selected as executive members.

KIPS pays tribute to Iqbal

LAHORE (PR): KIPS Education System organised a ceremony in lieu of Iqbal day at Javed Manzil, Garhi Shahu. During the event, the students highlighted Iqbal’s ideology of self (Khudi) through their creative and artistic skills. The chief guest of the ceremony, Secretary Education, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen acknowledged and praised the effort of KIPSchool and further accentuated Iqbal’s philosophy of self (Khudi). Sanofi Pakistan study

KARACHI (PR): Sanofi Pakistan announced that Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is an important cause of impaired vision in patients between 25 and 74 years of age. A vast majority of patients who develop DR are not aware of it until the very late stages – they confuse it with the aging process.
The VISION study was conducted in nine cities across Pakistan. Upon analysis of the data of over 200 diabetic patients with an average age of 53 years, it was found that the prevalence of DR in this study population was as high as 57%.

These patients had been suffering from diabetes for an average of 8 years with poor control (HbA1c over 9%) over their blood glucose levels. The patients had been recruited from 25 selected general practice clinics according to defined parameters.

‘Sooper Hai Zindagi’

KARACHI (PR): Peek Freans Sooper, Pakistan’s number 1 selling biscuit brand, recently announced winners from across Pakistan of its recent campaign “Sooper apki Zindagi ko kaisay super banata hai?” at an award ceremony, hosted at their regional offices in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Multan.

There were 11 grand cash prize winners and over 100 top-up winners.
