DG ISPR lauds Iran’s Role in defusing regional tensions after Pahalgam Attack

DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry commended Iran’s efforts in promoting peace amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam attack.

In an interview with Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted the broader security landscape of South Asia and expressed appreciation for the diplomatic efforts undertaken to ease hostilities in the region.

Tensions flared after India carried out unprovoked military actions on Pakistani territory. In response, Iran stepped forward with an offer to mediate between the two nuclear-armed neighbors to prevent further escalation.

“We value all peace initiatives from the international community, particularly those from brotherly nations like Iran, which actively contributed to de-escalating the situation,” the DG ISPR stated.

He further added, “Pakistan is sincerely thankful to the international community, and especially to the Islamic Republic of Iran, for its constructive role.”

Lt Gen Chaudhry also warned of regional elements, possibly supported by external powers, aiming to sow discord among friendly and brotherly nations. He reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historical bond between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing that both nations have always supported each other through difficult times.

According to IRNA, the Pakistani military spokesperson discussed not only the recent regional developments but also underscored the significance of diplomatic efforts—both regional and global—in maintaining peace and stability in South Asia.
