Peshawar - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Zakat and Ushr has signed an agreement with HBL Konnect to digitally distribute monthly financial aid to widows and orphaned children across the province.
The agreement was formalised at a ceremony chaired by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Zakat and Ushr Syed Qasim Ali Shah. Officials from both the provincial government and HBL Konnect were present.
Under the agreement, beneficiaries will receive Rs10,000 per month through two welfare programmes Roshan Mustaqbil and Sahara Card. Funds will be directly transferred to recipients’ WhatsApp-linked or bank accounts using HBL Konnect’s secure system.
Speaking at the signing, Syed Qasim Ali Shah said the initiative aims to ensure dignity, transparency, and efficiency in the disbursement of Zakat funds.
“This is not just about financial relief, it is about empowering vulnerable families, ensuring they receive their rightful support without intermediaries,” he said.
He added that the government was committed to building a welfare ecosystem rooted in accountability and digital governance, with special focus on women and children facing economic hardship.
Officials said the agreement reflects the province’s shift towards paperless, corruption-free welfare systems that guarantee timely access to entitlements.
