In a significant step towards digital transformation and public service, the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has introduced a lifetime ID card for citizens who voluntarily pledge to donate their organs.
The special smart ID card, featuring a green heart symbol, will be issued to registered organ donors aged 18 and above.
According to a statement shared by Nadra on social media, eligible individuals can apply for the new ID card by visiting their nearest Nadra centre or using the Pak-ID mobile app. The initiative honours humanitarian contributions while enhancing documentation transparency.
In another progressive move, Nadra has partnered with provincial governments to digitise civil registration processes across the country. A new Digital Birth and Death Registration System is being rolled out in hospitals and healthcare facilities under the Uraan Pakistan program, aimed at using technology to improve governance and drive economic growth.
This upgraded system, being implemented in collaboration with the World Bank, will operate under the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework to ensure accurate and comprehensive tracking of life events.
Additionally, Nadra is now offering free national ID cards for first-time applicants, easing access to official identification for all citizens.
These initiatives reflect Nadra's ongoing commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure, streamlining services, and making identification processes more inclusive and secure for Pakistanis.
