Pakistan, India DGMOs agree to uphold LoC ceasefire, says DPM Ishaq Dar

Pakistan and India’s Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) are set to hold contact today, reinforcing their commitment to the ongoing ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed.

Speaking during a media appearance, Dar stated that military-level communications between the two nations are progressing, marking a pivotal step toward de-escalation.

“The next phase will be of dialogue,” Dar said, expressing optimism about future engagement between the two neighbours. “The world has endorsed our narrative — this is our diplomatic victory,” he added, asserting that India had failed to present a counter-narrative effectively.

Dar highlighted Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach, saying, “I personally contacted over 60 countries, while our diplomats held more than 100 engagements.” He emphasized that Pakistan did not seek international mediation for the ceasefire but remained firm in its defensive stance.

“We made it clear to the U.S. Secretary of State that if India attacks again, we will respond again,” he stressed.

In their third round of communication, Pakistan’s DGMO Major General Kashif Abdullah and India’s DGMO Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai reiterated their mutual resolve to maintain peace along the LoC. Both sides also agreed to implement additional confidence-building measures to reinforce the ceasefire and ensure continued restraint and stability.

The dialogue reaffirmed prior understandings and is seen as a significant step toward easing tensions in the region. The ceasefire arrangement, facilitated through diplomatic efforts involving the United States and other nations, is being widely hailed as a positive move toward regional peace and security.
