DIR UPPER - At least one person died and six others sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision between a passenger coach and a motorcar in the Narhand locality, within the jurisdiction of the Sahibabad police station, here on Saturday.
According to a Rescue 1122 official, a speeding passenger coach collided with a motorcar coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the car plunged into the nearby Panjkora River.
In the collision, the driver of the motorcar—identified as Hidayatullah from the Wari sub-division—was swept away by the river.
Six other passengers were injured. Local volunteers later recovered the driver’s body from the Panjkora River and handed it over to a rescue ambulance.
The injured were immediately transported to the nearby Wari Hospital by Rescue 1122 ambulances, where their conditions were reported to be stable.
