Across the globe, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) face numerous challenges—from internal constraints to external conflicts—that hinder their growth and long-term sustainability. Women and young entrepreneurs, in particular, encounter added barriers such as limited access to finance, constrained market opportunities, and inadequate support systems. Addressing these issues requires strategic policy interventions that build capacities, align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and promote MSME growth through inclusive frameworks.

The development of resilient supply chains is essential for MSME success, especially in times of disruption caused by conflict, natural disasters, or health crises. Strong public-private partnerships are crucial for creating supply networks that are economically viable, ethically governed, and environmentally sustainable. By simultaneously supporting women’s and youth entrepreneurship and strengthening supply chain resilience, we can foster a business ecosystem that is both inclusive and adaptable.

Recognising the pivotal role of MSMEs, the United Nations advocates for international cooperation to achieve sustainable development. When MSMEs provide fair opportunities and empower marginalised populations, they become agents of transformative change—stimulating economic growth, generating employment, and reducing inequality. Through effective policies, better access to resources, and robust supply networks, MSMEs can unlock their full potential and drive inclusive progress.

The benefits of MSME expansion extend far beyond individual entrepreneurs, helping reshape communities and pave the way for a more sustainable global future.
