The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rains on Tuesday across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad, with heavy to very heavy showers expected in several areas.
In Islamabad, cloudy weather with rain, wind, and thundershowers is likely, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to receive showers in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, and nearby districts with chances of isolated heavyfalls. Punjab is also likely to witness widespread rains in Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas, where scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected.
Sindh is forecast to receive showers in Karachi, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Badin, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and other districts, with heavy rainfall at isolated places. In Balochistan, Quetta, Khuzdar, Gwadar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur, and coastal areas may receive thundershowers, while Awaran, Lasbela, and Khuzdar are likely to witness heavyfalls. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to experience rain, wind, and thundershowers with isolated heavy showers.
According to the PMD, heavy rains may trigger flash floods in streams and nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, the Potohar region, Dera Ghazi Khan, Koh-e-Suleman, and northeastern Balochistan. Urban flooding is feared in low-lying areas of northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Nowshera, and southeastern Sindh, while landslides and mudslides may disrupt roads in Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The PMD warned that strong winds, downpours, and lightning could damage weak structures such as kacha houses, billboards, vehicles, solar panels, and electric poles. It advised the public, travelers, and tourists to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel to vulnerable areas, and remain updated on the latest weather advisories.
