Man poisons wife to death

FAISALABAD  -  A man allegedly poisoned his wife to death for not bearing children in Chak Jhumra police limits.  A police spokesman said here on Sunday that 22-year-old Sana Noor of Chak No.150-JB Chiniot had married Abdus Shakoor of Chak Jhumra sometimes ago but failed to produce children.  Over this issue, an altercation took place between the couple after which the man reportedly served poison to his wife under the garb of desi medicines. As a result, the woman collapsed and was rushed to hospital where she died. Police have registered a case.

TEENAGER DROWNS IN CANAL

A teenage boy drowned in the Gugera Branch Canal in City Jaranwala police limits. A Rescue 1122 spokesman said here on Sunday that 18-year-old Zain Abbas of Mohallah Anwar Abad was taking a bath in the Gugera Branch Canal near Jhal Bridge when he drowned. Receiving information, divers of Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and started a search operation in the canal which is 89-foot wide and 12-foot deep.  The search operation is ongoing but the boy is still missing, he added.

TRADER COMMITS SUICIDE

A local trader reportedly committed suicide over a monetary issue in Saddar police limits.  A police spokesman said here on Sunday that 50-year-old Sheikh Muhammad Tahair of Gold City Satiana Road became dejected over a monetary dispute with his family members and shot himself in the head.  He was rushed to hospital but in vain as he breathed his last amid receiving intensive care treatment, he added.
