Minister directs to retrieve railway lands in Attock

Attock  -  Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi during his visit to the city chaired a meeting about launching an anti-encroachment campaign on railways lands.

Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza, Divisional Superintendent Railways Inamullah and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Attock apprised the minister about the ongoing development projects in Attock district, while Divisional Superintendent Railways Peshawar Inamullah apprised the minister about the railway lands located in Attock City.

The DS Railways in his briefing said that encroachments on valuable railway lands are not only causing financial loss to the Railway Department but also creating obstacles in development projects. The DS further said AEN Attock City, along with the Revenue Department, had retrieved 29 kanals of commercial land worth Rs 290 million, which was encroached. 

Railway Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi strictly directed the concerned authorities to retrieve all railway lands in Attock City as soon as possible. He directed the Deputy Commissioner Attock to ensure full cooperation with the Railway Department in this regard so that effective action can be taken against encroachments.

The Minister also asked the DC Attock for suggestions for generating revenue from the Railway lands. The Deputy Commissioner Attock assured the Minister that the district administration will cooperate fully during the anti-encroachment campaign against the elements occupying the Railway land illegally.

The Railway Minister expressed his determination that the government was taking all possible steps to secure the railway land so that the protection of national assets can be ensured and the railway development projects can be completed in the public interest on time.
