Wanted dacoit killed by ‘accomplices’

A wanted dacoit was killed by his accomplices in a shootout near Noorpur Canal here, DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said on Wednesday.
Talking to the media, the DPO said that the police were busy snap-checking at a check-post located on Noorpur Bridge. In the meanwhile, ASI Tanveer, In-Charge of the check-post, came across two suspected motorcyclists and stopped them. On search, the police recovered a pistol from their possession and arrest him,” he informed. The arrested accused was identified as Sanaullah alias Papu while his accomplice succeeded in fleeing the scene. DPO Rizvi claimed that during interrogation, the accused revealed that his accomplices had been holed up near Choha Jormoth village. At which the police along with the accused raided the hideout. On seeing the police party, the dacoits opened indiscriminate fire which the police retaliated. During the crossfire, the arrested accused got critically injured by the firing of his accomplices. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he breathed his last. DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that the deceased dacoit had been involved in a number of robberies, attempted to murder cases, illegal weapon possession and tens of other criminal activities.
