Altaf condemns PML-N tirade against president

KARACHI - Altaf Hussain, chief of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), has strongly denounced use of derogatory language by the PML-N leaders in a public meeting in Lahore. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif did not say anything of importance in his address to the rally other than 'hurling abusive words at President Asif Zardari. In a telephonic address to a workers convention at Lal Qila Ground in Azizabad which was simultaneously relayed to 33 zones of the MQM in the country, he said: The office of the president has a dignity, and it is the symbol of the federation. The dignified office of the president should have been respected by the PML-N leaders. He asserted that criticism must always be done within the limits of decency. No one should use abusive language, he maintained. Altaf Hussain also phoned President Asif Ali Zardari and assured him of MQMs full support against condemnable remarks by the PML-N. He also told the president that his party would continue providing full support to PPP-led government and would thwart any undemocratic effort by the opposition to remove it. During his address to Muttahida Quami Movement workers, the MQM chief said that the party would take out a rally on Sunday (today) at 2pm at Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road to register its protest against the use of 'un-parliamentary language against President Zardari. He invited leaders and workers of PML-Q, PML-F, PPP and all other political forces to take part in the protest rally. He said the undemocratic attitude of PML-N was aimed at derailing the democratic process. The MQM would protect democracy and would fight those who wanted to remove the government through undemocratic means. Altaf said that elections were coming, and expressed his confidence that the MQM would give amazing results throughout the country.
