Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, chaired a high-level meeting at his office regarding the beautification and renovation of Shahrah-e-Quaideen on Saturday. The session included Deputy Commissioner East, Abrar Jaffar, SSWMB Managing Director Tariq Ali Nizamani, AC Headquarters Rabia Syed, officials from KMC and KWSC, and DPD Naseem Bhutto.
DC East and AC HQ provided updates on the ongoing beautification work and highlighted certain challenges. Commissioner Naqvi issued strict directives for immediate action to address the issues.
He instructed that all encroachments along both sides of Shahrah-e-Quaideen be removed and FIRs be registered against those who fail to comply, with their businesses to be sealed. Special emphasis was placed on clearing encroachments at Khudadad Colony Chowrangi.
He further directed the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to complete cleaning operations from Mazar-e-Quaid to Nursery, while instructing KMC to clear stormwater drains at the Nursery traffic post and ensure drainage issues are resolved.
Additional beautification orders include: Painting of the service roads and footpaths in black and yellow; Planting of flower beds at Allah Wala Chowk on Tariq Road; Painting of the graveyard boundary wall and full repair of the adjacent footpath and Complete removal of illegal parking and vendors beneath the Green Line track from Guru Mandir to Lasbela Chowk.
AC Rabia Syed reported that 80% of overhead cables have been removed. Commissioner Naqvi also directed KMC to refurbish Guru Mandir Chowk and carry out patchwork from Guru Mandir to M.A. Jinnah Road.
He instructed DPD Naseem Bhutto to compile and submit a comprehensive report on the entire Shahrah-e-Quaideen beautification project by Monday. In addition, Commissioner Naqvi has called a separate meeting to address the beautification of Allama Shabbir Usmani Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
