David Beckham invests another £11.2m into Inter Miami

ISLAMABAD - David Beckham has invested an additional £11.2million into his MLS club Inter Miami in order to continue the development of his franchise, according to reports. Former England captain Beckham launched his team in 2020 with the Herons taking part in last season’s American top-flight and reaching the play-off preliminary rounds. The club is set to embark on its second season as a professional club in the upcoming 2021 MLS season, which is planned to start in March despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. And according to the report, Beckham has increased his stake in the Miami club by putting his own money in to improve the side ahead of the upcoming season.

 

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer oversaw the major signings of Juventus duo Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain last year in what have been the most high-profile acquisition since Inter Miami was founded. Inter Miami are also in talks with Stoke City defender Ryan Shaw cross over a potential deal ahead of the 2021 season. In early 2021, Beckham hired former United team-mate and close friend Phil Neville and the Herons’ head coach after former coach Diego Alonso was relieved of his duties.
