The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a sweeping crackdown on digital platforms accused of working against the country's national interest.
As part of the operation, PTA has blocked 119,496 websites for allegedly hosting content deemed harmful to Pakistan’s security and defence. Additionally, 3,248 YouTube channels have been taken down.
Citing privacy policies, the authority said it cannot disclose the specific details of the blocked sites.
Officials say the move serves as a strong warning to platforms promoting anti-state narratives. The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring online activity closely and taking all necessary steps to safeguard national security.
