RAWALPINDI - The people of Khushab district took a sigh of relief as news circled in the area that Safdar Ijaz, a predatory rapist and dacoit, has been killed in Rawalpindi in an encounter with police in Waqeel Colony, area of Police Station (PS) Airport. 35-years-old Safdar Ijaz, who was know as Safdar Kalu in his native town Ajwal, Khushab, left his town in July 2012 after raping so many girls and women as well as committing 3 dacoitees, 6 cases of possessing illegal arms and 2 theft cases.
However, not a single rape was reported to Khushab police by any victim. Taj Muhammad and Musadiq Saeed were the crime partners of Kalu, who also disappeared from the scene. Taj Muhammad is believed to be staying in Rawalpindi and running business of tea anywhere. It was also revealed that Safdar stormed into the house of an SDO WAPDA in 2008-09 and rapped his wife and fled. But the victim SDO did not report the rape case to police. Later, Safdar left his native town in July 2012 and selected Rawalpindi as his new target. The horrific spree of stabbing of women and girls during house robberies, including the rape and killing of 25-year-old daughter of a retired army officer at Lalazar by an unknown man put the Rawalpindi police as well the intelligence agencies on toes and finally Safdar was killed in encounter with police during a failed bid of dacoity in a house located at Waqeel Colony.
"When the people of Khushab heard the news of killing of Sadfar Kalu in an encounter with police in Rawalpindi, every one was happy and thanking to God that a wolf in clothes of human who had played havoc with number of innocent human lives met to his logic end" a respectable of Ajwaal area wishing anonymity told The Nation on phone here on Thursday. He said that not a single person expressed his grief over the death of Safdar Kalu.
Similarly, chat with number of other area people revealed that Safdar Kalu had been the sign of terror here for people till 2012 mid. Then he vanished from the area mysteriously and his family told area people that Safdar had flown to some foreign country.
A very close family member of Safdar told that he was a habitual rapist and dacoit. He said that his father divorced his mother and their uncle grown the family comprised a brother and mother.
The data, provided by Police Station (PS) Khushab, showed a total of 11 cases were registered against Safdar Kalu in 2009. Of 11, 3 were registered under section 392, 6 under section 13/20/65 and 2 under sections 457/380. Safdar was chellaned by police in all the cases, said a moherer adding that he was no more wanted by Khushab police. DPO Khushab Mujahid Akbar during a chat with the scribe said same what the moherer told.
Police handed over the dead body to heirs, who buried it at Ajwaal.
