Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has successfully overseen the distribution of Rs 61 billion in easy loans to more than 107,000 individuals within just three months, under the 'CM Punjab Asaan Karobar Finance' initiative.
During a review meeting on Saturday, PSIC Managing Director Saira Omer presented a comprehensive update on the scheme to the Chief Minister. The initiative has led to the establishment of 57,913 new businesses across the province in just 90 days, supported by Rs23.91 billion in loan disbursements.
A notable highlight of the program is its impact on women’s empowerment — 6,753 women received loans worth Rs3.42 billion to launch and operate their own enterprises.
In total, 3,010 individuals were granted loans amounting to Rs18 billion. Out of 74,579 applications submitted, 2,505 were approved in the first phase. Among the beneficiaries, 1,312 people received Rs3.91 billion specifically for transportation-related ventures.
The scheme also extended support to businesses in sectors such as agriculture, dairy, food, beauty, auto, fertilizers, pesticides, and professional services.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of accelerating the processing of pending applications and directed officials to ensure the continuity of the program to further uplift the livelihoods of Punjab’s citizens.
