ISLAMABAD  -  Two Islamabad police officials have been dismissed for contacts with drug dealers and criminals, police said. Those dismissed from their jobs include Assistant Sub-Inspector Azhar Mahmood and Constable Khalid Mahmood. During the investigation of a murder case, both officers were in telephonic contact with the accused involved in the murder besides a notorious drug dealer. They were in contact with accused Aamir alias Aamri, who was involved in the murder of Ishtiaq Abbasi, according to DIG Islamabad. Both were penalized after being found guilty in the inquiry.

DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq has said that there is no place in the police for officials who exceed their authority and bring disrepute to the department. “There will be strict departmental penalties for corruption, poor performance, exceeding authority, and failure to protect the lives and property of citizens.”
