ISLAMABAD - A fresh controversy erupted in parliament amid whispers of no-trust motion against Speaker National Assembly Sardar Auaz Sadiq.
Though Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf [PTI] has refused to immediately move a no-confidence motion against the chair, yet Speaker National Assembly (NA) has said that he had also heard about any such move against him.
“I have heard that a no-trust motion is being launched against me,” said the speaker talking to media persons in his chamber here on Monday.
Sadiq was confident in his gesture that PTI members would not propose any such move against him. “Being a speaker, I take care of everyone. I am satisfied and my conduct as a speaker is clear to all,” he remarked.
On the same matter, Minister for Defence Khwaja Muhammad Asif said any such move would expose the strength of opposition in the House. He said the opposition [PTI] has all the right to move against the Speaker National Assembly or even the government.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, meanwhile, rejected the reports about any such plans to move no-trust motion. He termed it fake and baseless. Former Speaker National Assembly/ PTI’s MNA Asad Qaiser also rejected any move against the government and Speaker National Assembly.
However, this matter was not discussed in the National Assembly proceedings by the opposition and Speaker National Assembly (NA). The proceedings continued till evening discussing the Pakistan-India conflict.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, in the first hour of proceedings (Question-Hour), said 23 initiatives aimed at identifying talent at schools, colleges, and district levels were launched over three domestic cricket seasons in the country.
He said 7,960 students from 398 schools participated in school tournaments in Sindh. Similarly, universi-ty and college events, including the Inter-College Ramadan T-20 Cup and the Women’s University T-20, engaged 3,460 players from 157 institutions. He further said that age-group cricket tournaments were organized in various categories, including Under-13, Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, and Under-19, in both one-day and three-day formats, involving 1,280 players.
About the climate change issue in the country, Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr Shezra Mansab said over 24 flagship projects have been identified across the Indus Basin aimed at restoring degraded ecosystems, enhancing groundwater recharge, and improving wa-ter security for agriculture.
He said provincial governments are leading on-ground implementation with projects such as wetland conservation in Sindh, watershed rehabilitation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and improved irrigation effi-ciency in Punjab and Balochistan.
The Minister of State further said under the Recharge Pakistan Programme, a federal-provincial part-nership is underway to use nature-based solutions, including floodplain restoration and wetland pro-tection to build resilience against floods and droughts, enhance groundwater recharge and stabilize river flows.
Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Nelson Azeem, responding to a call-attention no-tice, said that provision of free medicines to cancer patients in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will continue in the next fiscal year as well. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has especially approved 150 million rupees for the purpose.
Earlier, the house passed “The Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill, 2025” and “The Explosives (Amend-ment) Bill, 2025 presented by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
