City grieves as Rescue hero, his child lose lives in road mishap

RAHIM YAR KHAN  -  In a deeply tragic turn of events, a Rescue 1122 official who spent his career saving the lives of others lost his own life, along with his three-year-old son, in a devastating road accident. The entire city has been enveloped in grief, with citizens mourning the loss of a community hero and his child.

According to initial reports, 33-year-old Arif Junaid, a dedicated member of Rescue 1122, was traveling on Mumbarak Road with his young son Subhan on Monday. The two were on their way to collect clean drinking water for their family when their motorcycle was struck by a speeding truck approaching from the opposite direction. The violent impact threw both father and son onto the road, leaving them critically injured.

Rescue teams responded swiftly and transported both victims to Sheikh Zayed Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, Arif Junaid and his son succumbed to their injuries soon after arrival. Their sudden passing has left not only their family but the entire rescue services community in shock and sorrow.

Funeral prayers for the father and son were held later in the day, attended by a large gathering of Rescue 1122 officials, colleagues, friends, and local residents. In a solemn moment of respect, Rescue 1122 personnel paid tribute with a ceremonial salute as the bodies were laid to rest. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion, with many unable to hold back tears as the two were buried side by side.

Arif Junaid was widely known for his commitment and bravery, having responded to countless emergencies in the service of others. His untimely death, along with that of his innocent son, has sparked an outpouring of condolences from across the city. Many community members have called for urgent action on road safety, highlighting the dangers faced by both emergency responders and ordinary citizens due to reckless driving and inadequate enforcement of traffic regulations.
