Washington - US Senator John Kerry sported two black eyes during a ceremony at the White House on Tuesday night - after breaking his nose playing ice hockey. The Massachusetts Democrat, 68, was awaiting President Barack Obama’s salute to the NHL’s Boston Bruins for their 2011 Stanley Cup championship when cameras snapped him with the shiners.

Kerry’s office said he sustained the injury when he was hit in the face with a hockey stick during a game with friends and family over the holidays.
