CM Gandapur pledges to rebuild flood-hit homes, relocate affected families

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday pledged that all homes destroyed in the recent floods will be rebuilt.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, he reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting victims and said residents from severely affected areas would be relocated to safer locations.

The chief minister said the prime minister and federal ministers had contacted him to offer assistance, expressing hope that the federation would “fully play its part.”

On the issue of encroachments, Gandapur stressed that the problem had persisted for years and warned that no leniency would be shown. He cited a “model anti-encroachment operation” conducted in Dera Ismail Khan, adding that similar drives would be launched across the province.

Urging citizens to refrain from illegal land grabs and cooperate with authorities, he highlighted that Buner district had suffered the most flood damage.

Gandapur said the provincial government had sufficient resources for rescue operations, with PTI’s MNAs and MPAs already visiting affected areas to assist people. He announced plans to adopt modern technology for monitoring cloudbursts and strengthening early warning systems.

He further noted that the military was assisting the provincial government and had provided two additional helicopters to boost rescue efforts.
