On the special instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, additional truckloads of relief goods are being dispatched to the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PM Office said in a statement on Sunday.
The prime minister is personally overseeing National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) relief operations, with federal ministers assigned to monitor aid distribution in affected districts. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam will oversee relief in Shangla and Buner, while the Federal Minister for Power Division will assist in Buner. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf has been tasked with Mansehra, and PM’s Special Assistant Mubarak Zeb will supervise operations in Bajaur.
The relief package includes food rations, tents, and medicines, which are being handed over to local administrations for distribution. The prime minister has directed NDMA to stay in close contact with provincial disaster management authorities in KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to ensure better coordination, while also finalizing a priority list of aid delivery.
“We stand with the flood victims in this hour of difficulty,” PM Shehbaz said in his message.
NDMA, the Pakistan Army, provincial authorities, and NGOs are jointly engaged in relief and rescue efforts across flood-hit districts.
