Jinnah Municipal Library to be upgraded as ‘Kabirwala Tea House’

KHANEWAL  -  The Jinnah Municipal Library will be upgraded as the “Kabirwala Tea House,” a cultural space where intellectuals, scholars, and artists can gather and engage in literary discussions. Steps will also be taken to expand library membership, provide new books, and enhance facilities. Additionally, data on individuals associated with literature and the fine arts in Kabirwala Tehsil is being compiled to ensure their proper recognition and appreciation.

This was stated by Assistant Commissioner Kabirwala, Rana Aamir Liaqat, while addressing the Golden Jubilee Mushaira organized by Majlis-e-Farogh-e-Adab Kabirwala in connection with its third foundation day. Speaking as the Sahib-e-Sham (Guest of Honour), he said that the promotion of knowledge and literature is key to building a civilized society. He emphasized the reactivation of the Jinnah Municipal Library to engage the younger generation in literary and intellectual pursuits.

Presiding over the event, renowned national poet Qamar Raza Shehzad said that Kabirwala has always been a cradle of literature and poetry, with generations contributing high-quality literary work. He praised the efforts of Majlis-e-Farogh-e-Adab, which has organized 50 literary sittings over the past three years, marking a historic milestone for the region.

Addressing the audience, President of the Majlis, Syed Farrukh Raza, said that they consider themselves custodians of Kabirwala’s literary heritage and are committed to passing this legacy on to the youth with integrity. He added that the Majlis has broken a long-standing cultural stagnation and revived literary activity in the region through 50 successful events.

General Secretary Mohsin Raza Shafi presented a summary of the organization’s three-year performance, while Vice President Rana Naeem Tariq and Information Secretary Imran Razmi lauded the contributions of the Majlis and paid tribute to literary figures. A cake-cutting ceremony was held to mark the anniversary, and honorary shields and awards were presented to distinguished guests and organizers.

The Golden Jubilee Mushaira followed, with Qamar Raza Shehzad presiding over the session and AC Rana Aamir Liaqat as Sahib-e-Sham. Notable guest poets included Tahir Naseem, Suhail Abidi, Rakib Mukhtar, and Taseer Jafri. Poets who recited their work and received great appreciation from the audience included Qamar Raza Shehzad, Rana Aamir Liaqat, Suhail Abidi, Rakib Mukhtar, Taseer Jafri, Mohsin Raza Shafi, Faisal Masood Pinyan, Tariq Javed, Malik Umar Tariq, Syed Farrukh Raza, Imran Razmi, Hamza Hazim, Rao Sanwal Sajjad, and Syed Hussain Akbar.

Renowned singer Manzar Abbas added charm to the evening with soulful renditions of ghazals and songs.

The event witnessed a large turnout of literary enthusiasts, poets, journalists, teachers, students, and members of the public, who praised the contributions of Majlis-e-Farogh-e-Adab Kabirwala to the promotion of literature and culture in the region.
