LAHORE - The 37th OGDCL Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships 2025 commenced at the S Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad with an exciting day of qualifying matches. A total of 32 fixtures were played, resulting in eight players advancing to the men’s singles main draw: Jabir Ali, M Taha Khizer, Ahmad Waqar, M Zohaib Afzal Malik, M Umer Javed, Kamran Khan, Hisashi Izumi, and Muhammad Rayyan. They join 24 directly accepted players based on the PTF national rankings, completing the 32-player draw.
Top seeds in the men’s singles include Muhammad Soahib, Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza, Yousaf Khalil, Barkatullah, Abdullah Adnan, Zami Zeb Khan and Ahmad Nael. The draws for men’s singles, boys’ U-18 and U-14, and ladies’ singles were conducted by ITF White Badge referee Muhammad Arif Qureshi in the presence of participating athletes.
Main draw matches in all categories begin on Monday, May 19 at 9:00 AM. The ladies’ singles will be held on clay courts as a preparation for the Pakistan Women’s Team ahead of next month’s Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group-II event in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Islamabad Tennis Association Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza and President Majid Bashir extended their best wishes to all players. The formal opening ceremony will take place on the same day at 10:00 AM with both dignitaries in attendance as chief guests.
