PESHAWAR - Power supply across the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) region was severely affected on Sunday due to a powerful storm and strong winds, according to a PESCO spokesperson.
A total of 110 feeders tripped due to faults caused by the storm, resulting in widespread power outages across several areas.
Although multiple grid stations also tripped, PESCO teams responded immediately and successfully restored them.
The districts of Peshawar, Khyber, Swat, Mardan, Swabi, Abbottabad, and Mansehra were particularly impacted by the inclement weather and the resulting disruptions in electricity supply.
PESCO teams remained on high alert and were actively working to restore power as quickly as possible. The situation was being closely monitored from the PESCO control room to ensure timely updates and response.
PESCO urged the public to remain patient and cooperate with its staff. Consumers were requested to report any electricity outages or emergencies by calling the PESCO helpline at 118.
Strong winds uproot trees in Peshawar
Strong winds struck Peshawar and its surrounding areas on Sunday afternoon, causing trees and signboards to collapse at various locations.
According to police from different areas, several individuals — including two women — sustained injuries.
Reports indicated that the storm caused widespread damage and disrupted daily life, with power outages reported across most parts of the district. Trees were uprooted and signboards fell in multiple locations, including Afghan Colony and Begum Shahabuddin Girls School, where two women sustained minor injuries from falling debris.
Additional incidents were reported near the Tehsil Gor Gathri area, where several trees collapsed. Eyewitnesses said a seriously injured man — struck by a falling tree — was rushed to the hospital by bystanders.
Rescue 1122 disaster response teams were dispatched to remove fallen trees and clear affected roads to restore traffic flow and ensure public safety.
