AFC Asian Cup Qualifier: Pakistan football team departs for Dammam

The Pakistan football team is set to leave for Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday night ahead of their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Syria on March 25.

The match will take place at a neutral venue in Dammam following the conclusion of the team’s training camp at Model Town C Block ground in Lahore on Wednesday.

Head coach Stephen Constantine, currently in the UK, will join the squad directly in Dammam as his Pakistan visa was not issued in time.

The 27-member squad includes 17 players and officials departing from Lahore, while 10 foreign-based Pakistani footballers will link up with the team in Saudi Arabia.

Originally, the Pakistan Football Federation's Normalization Committee (NC) had planned to hold the training camp in Dammam, but visa delays forced the camp to be relocated to Lahore.

The team captain will be announced by Constantine upon arrival in Dammam.
