Hong Kong beat Pakistan 2-1 in Junior Davis Cup

LAHORE  -  Pakistan’s under-16 boys tennis team suffered their second consecutive defeat in the 2025 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying Event, falling 2-1 to Hong Kong, China in their Group B tie on Tuesday.

Held at the National Tennis Centre in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the tie saw Hong Kong China assert their dominance in both singles rubbers to secure an unassailable lead, before conceding the doubles match to Pakistan, finishing the tie 2-1. In the opening singles encounter,AbuBakar Talha of Pakistan was up against Fu Wang Choi of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong player asserted control from the outset, defeating Talha in straight sets 6-2, 6-2in 1 hour and 23 minutes.

The second singles match featured Pakistan’s Mikaeel Ali Baig against Sin Hang Tam. Tam beat Baig in another straight-sets victory, 6-2, 6-3, in a match that lasted 1 hour and 42 minutes. Although Baig showed glimpses of resistance in the second set, Tam’s baseline dominance and tactical play ensured Hong Kong’s unassailable 2-0 lead. Pakistan’s Hamza Roman and AbuBakar Talha delivered a strong performance to claim a straight-sets victory over Hong Kong China’s Fu Wang Choi and Jason Fu in the Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Final Qualifying Event on Tuesday. The Pakistani duo displayed solid teamwork and composure throughout the match, sealing a 6-2, 6-4 win in 1 hour and 7 minutes. This loss follows Pakistan’s earlier 3-0 defeat at the hands of a strong Japanese side, leaving the Pakistani contingent with a tough road ahead in Group B.
