Karachi University confers DSc degree on renowned scientist

KARACHI   -  The University of Karachi has awarded the higher doctorate degree of Doctor of Science (DSc) to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of chemistry. The degree was awarded in a recent meeting of the university’s Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB), chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi. An ICCBS spokesperson stated on Tuesday that Prof. Dr. Shah, who also holds the UNESCO Chair in Medicinal and Bioorganic Natural Product Chemistry at the University of Karachi, was recently appointed as a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the WHO International Traditional Medicine Clinical Trial Registry. He is actively engaged in the fields of nanomedicine and clinical trials. Prof. Shah has authored over 520 research publications, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 1800. His work has been cited more than 11,450 times, and he holds an H-index of 55. He has written seven books, edited four, and contributed nine chapters published by Elsevier. Additionally, he holds several patents registered in both the United States and Pakistan. His numerous accolades include the prestigious Khwarizmi International Award (with a USD 20,000 prize from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology), the civil award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (2014), the Dr. Raziuddin Prize (2015), the Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman Gold Medal awarded by the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, the Avicenna Science & Innovation Award (2015) from Brain Trust UK, and the Abdus Salam Award in Chemistry (2006).
